PBI-Gordon Corporation is a highly successful, employee- owned company located in Kansas City’s historic West Bottoms. The company was established in 1947, and has grown a diversified portfolio including: pesticides, herbicides, and veterinarian/pharmaceutical and consumer pet businesses.


This position reports to the Sales Manager that is responsible for Consumer Lawn, Garden, and Farm Products. 


The person hired in this role will be responsible for development and growth of Key Farm and Ranch Retail Sales as well as being the lead salesperson in the Mid-Western territory.  They will manage the successful and profitable growth of Lawn, Garden, and Farm product categories within 5 key business partners.  They will also support and manage pricing as well as execute marketing programs to assure profitable long-term growth. 


The essential duties for this key position are the following: 


  • Call on and foster relationships with key business partners.
  • Increase current sales volume while striving to increase corporate contribution through improved margins.
  • Work with internal groups to develop an annual strategic sales plan and execute this plan in order to meet sales targets.
  • Work with management to identify opportunities for new products and for enhancement and development of existing products and programs.
  • Work with the sales team management on data trends, consumer forecasting, and internal forecasts to ensure efficient supply of inventory.
  • Present training classes with key buyers and management as needed to elevate the understanding and benefits of Gordon's products.
  • Manage projects including new product development, providing feedback from customers and potential customers to enhance product performance and service delivery and label updates.
  • Develop presentations for use internally and externally to present new and current products and programs.
  • Ensure effective internal communications with various internal teams.
  • Responsible for territory activity reports on a weekly basis.
  • Provide business and competitive intelligence to management team.
  • Develop customer relationships and build new relationships.
  • The person hired in this role is expected to travel up to 50%.   


  • Education: Bachelor of Art or Science in related field is required.  An acceptable equivalent is a GED and 10 + years of Sales experience in the same industry/same type of role. 
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in the Consumer Farm, Ranch or Lawn/Garden Industry (plus a B.S. or B.A. degree). 
  • Technical Expertise: 5+ years of experience using a laptop, MS product skills including Excel, word, Power-Point and other related technologies.  
  • Travel required is up to 50%.
