Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Environmental, Health & Safety manager, you will work to ensure that all Safety Data Sheets for finished products are complete, accurate, and compliant with federal regulations.  A understand of the complex regulations surrounding SDS authoring and attention to detail are imperative.

Your main duties will be preparing finished good SDSs for internal review, preparing finished good SDSs for shipment, and maintaining internal SDS inventories.  From time to time, you will also provide regulatory support to colleagues and customers concerning the classification of products. You will also be responsible for maintaining that all internal SDS documents are organized, complete, and maintained to meet internal policy and regulatory compliance.

You must be systematic, have strong attention to detail, be comfortable communicating with a range of stakeholders and be able to work in a small close knit team environment

Job Tasks: 

  • Classifies, Creates, Distributes complex Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) in the WERCS software system for multiple formats and languages.
  • Coordinates with the internal Regulatory Department to maintain the most accurate SDSs are available on our website.
  • Enter product level data into WERCs Studio and WERCs UL Secure Connect while maintaining confidentiality and trade secret information.
  • Maintain SDS inventories in the WERCs for products used throughout the corporation and subsidiaries.
  • Maintain completed SDS files for products and raw materials.
  • Compile and complete SDS transfer to Chem-Trec for emergency response correspondence associated with the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA), section (6)(a)(2):
  • Ensure updated or obsolete MSDS/ SDS are filed properly.
  • Assist with customer requests for MSDS/ SDS.
  • Provides internal and external customer support related to hazard communication including SDS distribution.
  • Assist with reviewing and updating vendor MSDS/ SDS and hazard chemical lists
  • Coordinate with the business sectors and their suppliers to collect and determine adequacy of available information

In this role, the ideal candidate will have the following: 

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team atmosphere and to work independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn complex databases.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively on multiple assignments concurrently.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to accurately manage large amounts of detailed information.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Understanding of customer requirements and expectations.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel.

Qualifications

 Education: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience in Safety/Environmental, Chemicals, or SDS.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Suite, and Outlook.
  • Ability to apply toxicology and physical/chemical data to the safe handling of chemicals.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Safety, Environmental science, etc.
  • 1 year WERCs software experience including the WERCs ULSC program.
