The Quality Lab Manager is responsible for the day to day operations of the lab and reporting personnel.

This role is responsible for the following: 

  • Insure incoming materials are inspected/approved utilizing the department sampling plan.
  • Insure analytical and microbiological tests performed by external accredited labs are reviewed and recorded at all critical manufacturing steps.
  • Insure all equipment utilized in the various manufacturing operations pass hygienic testing prior to production
  • Quarantine product which does not pass analytical or microbiological testing for management review.
  • Record all analytical and microbiological results in order to perform statistical analysis of future manufactured products.
  • Insure all approved internal lab tests are performed, reviewed, approved and properly recorded.
  • Ability to operate various lab equipment; viscometer, oven, incubator, spectrophotometer
  • Ability to set up and run test studies.
  • Ability to calibrate and repair lab equipment
  • Ability to investigate and recommend new lab equipment.
  • Create and update lab procedures.
  • Assist R & D department in developing and improving products.
  • Communicate lab results in a timely manner to ensure on time delivery of customer products.
  • Assist in setting up new lab equipment if needed.
  • All other duties as may be assigned.



  • Education: BS, MS, or PhD in Food Science or a related field from an accredited university.
  • Experience: 5+ years as a Lab Manager including having direct reports.
  • Specialized knowledge or training food production and testing.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others in the company for a Company of One mindset. 
  • Ability to encourage teamwork across department lines.
  • Ability to analyze ingredients, know what to test and when and how to delegate tasks as needed. 
  • Ability to set up trial tests successfully.
  • Travel required in this position 10%
